Short title, application and commencement:
(1) This Order may be called the Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

(2) This applies to all electrical appliances designed for household, commercial, or similar use, operating at a rated voltage of up to 250V for single-phase AC or 415V for three-phase AC. It excludes appliances covered under any other Quality Control Order issued under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act.

(3) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Penalty for Contravention: If any person who contravenes the provisions of this Quality Control Order, shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
