Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) has issued Quality Control Order on 17th September, 2024 after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards to make BIS ISI mark certification for Hand Tools.
The Bureau of Indian Standards periodically issues Quality Control Orders (QCO) for various products, including hand tools, to ensure that only certified and standard-compliant products are available in the market. These QCOs specify the Indian Standards applicable to different categories of hand tools and make it mandatory for manufacturers to obtain BIS certification.
Short title and commencement: (1) This order may be called the Hand Tools (Quality
Control) Order, 2024.
(2) It shall come into force on the expiry of six months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
Provided that in relation to small enterprises, it shall come into force on the expiry of 9 months from the date of publication of this notification.
Provided that in relation to micro enterprises, it shall come into force on the expiry of 12 months from the date of publication of this notification.
