On 27th August 2025, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, notified the Cross Recessed Screws (Quality Control) Order, 2025. This new order supersedes the earlier 2024 version and makes compliance with specified Indian Standards (IS) mandatory for manufacturing, importing and selling cross recessed screws in India.

Applicability and Scope
According to the order, the following provisions apply:
- All goods listed in the official table must conform to Indian Standards.
- Products must carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
- The BIS will act as the certification and enforcement authority.
Implementation Timeline
The implementation will be phased based on enterprise size:
- General (Other than MSEs): 1st November 2025
- Small Enterprises: 1st February 2026
- Micro Enterprises: 1st May 2026
This ensures smaller enterprises get more time to align with the standards.
