As per this Quality Control Order (QCO), all manufacturers and importers of beds must obtain BIS ISI Mark Certification before selling their products in the Indian market.
Short title and commencement:
(1) This order may be called the Furniture (Quality Control) Order, 2025.
(2) It shall come into force on the expiry of 12 months from the date of publication of this notification.
The implementation of this order aims to:
- Enhance Product Safety – Ensuring beds meet the necessary strength and safety requirements to prevent accidents and structural failures.
- Improve Quality Standards – Promoting high-quality materials and construction methods for longer-lasting products.
- Protect Consumer Interests – Preventing the sale of substandard and unsafe beds to safeguard consumer health and well-being.

Penalty for contravention: Any person who contravenes the provisions of this order shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
